Parents Meeting Parents
Jack’s Helping Hand is proud to spojhh@jackshelpinghand.orgnsor a program for parents of children with cancer to meet and talk with other parents in the same situation.
We know that families facing the challenges of a child with cancer are vulnerable and need support. We are lucky to have the expertise of Susan Updegrove, RN, MFT, as our volunteer facilitator. Susan worked as a Marriage and Family therapist in private practice for 25 years in San Luis Obispo, and retired just two years ago. With her background in nursing, Susan has always had a special interest in working with those whose medical conditions have affected their lives. She has extensive experience working with family members ranging in age from three to eighty.

Little Swimmers
Jack’s Helping Hand sponsors “Little Swimmers,” a class for children with physical challenges held in the warm water pool at Cuesta Community College and taught by instructors with specialized training. Children ages 2 to 8 are welcome and classes can be divided according to age and ability for best success. Designed for children with special physical needs, Little Swimmers classes engage them in fun water activities that encourage both physical and social development. Teen Yoga
Jack’s Helping Hand, Inc. is utilising space at Central Coast Gymnastics to offer “Jack’s Yoga for Teens,” for kids ages 10 to 18. The classes taught by a qualified yoga instructor are designed for children of every ability level, including the physically challenged. Everyone can learn and enjoy the many rewards of yoga. Classes are currently held every Monday at 4:00pm in the dance room at Central Coast Gymnastics. You can join any time.
