Every month, we highlight a child, so you can learn about the wonderful children we help in our community. This month we would like you to meet Aarna!
“Aarna was diagnosed with retinoblastoma at 8 months old. As first-time parents, we were very scared to see that our child would have to go through chemotherapy and other treatments to try and save her eye. But the smile she gave us every time we looked at her gave us the strength to go through the day. We heard about Jack’s Helping Hand through the UCLA Oncology Center in San Luis Obispo. Jack’s Assistance Program has supported our family in many ways, from little things, such as sending us positive notes for our daughter’s well-being and helping us with accommodations for hotels when we travel for Aarna’s treatment. Jack’s has also invited us to various events to meet other families and be a part of a larger community that supports one another. The help and support that Jack’s Helping Hand has given my family during a difficult time have helped us focus on ensuring that 100% of our energy goes to the care of our daughter.
Aarna has now turned 3 years old. Her hobbies are painting, playing with her kitchen, going to the park, throwing a ball, and going to the golf course with her dad, but her all-time favorite is arts and crafts. She loves to have fun and be around people.”
We are grateful to consider the Shuklas a part of our Jack’s Helping Hand family and honored to assist Aarna in getting the care she needs.
