May Superstar!

Meet Bonifacio!

Bonifacio Garcia III was born 9 years ago and acquired an enterovirus that affected multiple organs in his body causing a dysfunction and failure of his heart, liver, gastrointestinal, kidneys, cardiovascular, respiratory, and neurological systems. He underwent several lifesaving procedures. During his stay at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, while on ECMO, he had a left hemorrhagic stroke. He initially was placed on a waiting list for a heart transplant but was eventually removed due to improved heart function. Bonifacio continues to attend Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapy weekly. After 8 years of relying on a feeding tube for nutrition, he decided he no longer wanted to use his tube and began consuming all his meals! His athleticism, eagerness to learn, competitiveness, and resiliency are just some of his traits that has helped him succeed and beat obstacles that challenge him in every aspect of his daily activities. This is why his family call him their ‘Bayani,’ their ‘Hero’!
